This was a destination I didn’t choose myself. There is yearly event that I have been attending for the past 8 years and this year as the last four I was assigned to Querétaro. I was no keen at first living all the way in the south of the country, going to the heart of Mexico is neither easier nor cheap, but committed as we are to this yearly event we made plans.
We arrived in Querétaro at 4pm after a very long day. We had left our place in Puerto Escondido at 6:20am, got a taxi to the bus station and there we got a bus to the Huatulco Airport which took just over two and half hours, then we got off in the freeway and walked our lugagge all the way up the hill to the airport. Then we flew to Mexico City, from Mexico City we took Primera Plus bus to Querétaro which is three hours north and we finally arrived at our destination at 4:00pm. This time we were staying in a hotel we never stayed before. It looked promising on the website but in Mexico you just never know. We were travelling with a few of our friends and one of them found this hotel and it looked good so we all booked, and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We stayed at Hotel Quinta Lucca. It is five blocks from the center of town and I guess it used to be a laser pointer amazon, we checked in and went into our room and I was over the moon.
Its not a five star hotel but it was perfect. Only 17 Rooms, around a beautifully manicured courtyard, the rooms are small but funcional, the bathroom is good size and modern, they have a coffee a machine in the room and they gave me an Iron and hair dryer as soon as soon as I asked for it.
The staff were extremely friendly. It included breakfast which was basic but just what we needed to start the day. Coffee, Pastries, Juice, Tea, Coffee, Fruit & Cereal. Will Definately stay there again. But if you are looking for 5 star accomodation, here is a shortcut to other Hotels in Queretaro. Querétaro was great, it is one of the safest cities in Mexico, taxi drivers were helpful and didn’t try to reap us off, there were heaps of good restaurants, in all price ranges from the one where two can eat for $10AUD & USD to one where you both eat for $100AUD.
